Monday Update from Honduras

Today was probably the longest day I have ever had in Honduras. We started off early this morning with an approximate 90 minute van ride to a place affectionately called by the locals ¨ Q-Tip Mountain" due to the fact that the place we were was actually in the clouds and from the valley the mountain top looked like a Q Tip. Oh yeah the trip started with getting to see a wrecked bus with the entire cab torn off of it, and for any of you that have ever been here you fully understand how that happened!! Before we ever arrived, the rain started to pour and continued to do so most of the day. We were able to get most of the way in the vans, but finally had to stop and get in 4WD trucks to finish the trip. We worked at a school and were able to serve 139 patients and dispense over 400 prescriptions. This does not count the dentists seeing roughly 100 patients. Did I mention that it had already started to rain, well when we finished up we found out that there had been a mudslide and that we were stuck until they could clear the md and tree that had slid into the road. Our trip out started on foot with us carrying all the meds and supplies that were not dispensed for aproximately 20 yards to the 4WD trucks, which then took us up the mountain in the pouring rain with 5 of us in the back seat of a little Toyota truck. When we made it back to the vans the truck went back to get the rest of the team and we finally all re-grouped and headed back in to Tegucigalpa! It was great day and we all were left with memories that will not be soon forgotten. The construction group almost finished the second house and plan on finishing it up tomorrow! Can not wait to see what tomorrow brings. Hope all is well!

Vaya con Dios,
Stacy
