30 Days of Prayer

I have already thanked you for all the prayers surrounding our “40 days of Prayer” for our nation back in September and October leading into the election… I hope you are still praying!  This Sunday I will be introducing to the church another focused effort in prayer that we would like to encourage everyone to be involved with.  Our Elders want us to enter into a concerted period of prayer over the next thirty days as we look towards 2013 and to pray for the direction and focus of our church family going forward.  As you know, we are greatly looking forward to completely paying off our building debt and are confident that we will do so by the end of the year.  With that responsibility behind us, we are aware that the field is wide before us.  There is so much more we hope to be able to do with our resources going forward… and we are expectantly waiting upon the Lord to reveal what those new opportunities will be.  Our Elders will be presenting to us some thoughts and challenges on Sunday, December 30 as we look towards a vision and plan for 2013 and for the years to follow.  However, before they do, they would like to ask all of us to be in prayer for this direction and purpose.  Our mission is clear, we believe.  We are to reach the lost and to make disciples.  But where?  How?  What tools should we invest in now to help us fulfill that mission… the “Great Commission”?  What is the best way to go about this?  Many ideas and possibilities have been suggested.  There are many ideas.  But we want to seek God and have Him lead us.  So, let me invite you to be in prayer over this and for the many works with which we are involved here at Washington Street.  I am convinced that God is more than able to take a small group of followers who worship here on this corner in Fayetteville, TN and use us to accomplish great things in His kingdom… greater things than we can even hope or imagine!

So, I’ll talk more about this on Sunday… but in the meantime be in prayer over this endeavor as well as the efforts which will go into searching for a new Youth Minister to work with our young people.  These things are very important for us as we close the book on one chapter and turn the page to something new and wonderful that God has in store for us!  Please join us in this journey.
