Good Monday,

Special Guest Speaker This Sunday, Darryl Willis
Darryl Willis will be with us on Sunday to bring a message and to speak to us about his work with Eastern European Missions.  Darryl served as our youth minister for a number of years and we look forward to every opportunity for him to come back and visit with us.  For the last year he has been working with EEM and has many great stories of God at work to share.  We invite all of the adult Bible classes to stay in the auditorium during the class hour to hear his special presentation.

Don’t forget about Sunday, Sept. 30, the fourth “fifth Sunday” of the year!
We’ll have a special schedule that day as well with a combined adult Bible class in the auditorium followed by a congregational pot-luck fellowship.  There will be no Share Group meetings or evening assembly that night.

Magi Boxes
I challenged our young people on Sunday to begin putting together their Magi boxes this year!  Our missionary family in Honduras, Carlos and Marla, have requested 140 boxes for their outreach program this Christmas and we’ve been challenged to rise to the meet that need!  Our brothers and sisters at the Gallatin church have volunteered to put together seventy and I know we can do the same!  You can check the website at www.hhi.org to download a brochure with the specific instructions, but basically what we need is this:  Each box should be filled full with special gift items (small toys, t-shirts, toiletries, stationary, school supplies, candy, etc.) wrapped (with the lid wrapped separately), labeled appropriately (nino or nina!) and brought back to the church with a rubber band around it and $7 inside of it (for shipping.)  If individuals would like to help us with shipping, you may just donate towards that cost as well.  On Sunday, Sept. 30th, we’ll have a grand presentation of the boxes as I will invite each of our young people to bring them to the front of the auditorium, ready for delivery!

There are a number of other opportunities to serve right now including…
  • The TN Children’s Home is conducting their annual Fall Food drive.  Their truck will be here on Oct. 16th to pickup any donations.  Please bring items by the church office on or before that date.  They would also appreciate any monetary donations.
  • Our own food pantry is in desperate need of re-stocking!  If you could help us with this, it would also be much appreciated.  We like to have a ready supply of canned goods, pastas, boxed foods, etc.  Remember to check the date on any items you donate!  We can’t give away anything that is out-of-date.
  • Sign-up in your Bible classes or Share Groups for a spot on a Wednesday Night Meal Team!  Our deacons are in the process of re-assigning duties and hoping to have enough volunteers commit to this ministry to restart it very soon.  If you haven’t signed up, see one of our Elders or deacons for more info or to get your name on the list!  This ministry is a great opportunity to encourage our families on Wednesday nights to participate in our Bible study time each week.
